Chronology CoverWith the impending release of the new video for "Look Me in the Eye" I thought it only fitting to let those not lucky enough to own the collection called "Chronology" have a listen. I have also included a few other choice samples from the CD for your enjoyment. Here is also some news of how the video is coming along:

"The editing stage (aka the off-line edit) of Images in Vogue's new music video for "Look Me in the Eye" is done! We hope to add some visual effects & graphics next. The online assembly (which includes dissolves & titles) will most likely occur in late March. We hope to deliver the final version to Much Music & Divine Industries by the first week of April.

A big THANK YOU goes out to our film editor, James Lawson. He's done an amazing job cutting the over 7,000 feet footage together."

Half Baked High Tech

I thought I would share some interesting links that further explains the process IIV went through to restore the recordings on tape they are compiling for the "Evolution" CD.

Below is a link to the story that appeared on Daily Planet that explains the baking process the Smithsonian Folkways Recordings labs uses to recover sounds from not so old tape recordings. This is a streaming video so it takes a couple of secs to load. Very interesting to those sound junkies out there like myself.

Here is the link to their website if you are looking for that obscure recording:

Here are directions for those of you thinking about using this half baked process. (I know that sucked)

Work begins on IIV Collection 3.0 : Evolution

December is turning out to be a very busy month for IIV. Not only have we shot our first music as a band since "So Careful" but we have officially begun work on "Collection 3.0 : Evolution". As everyone may or not know, most of our master tapes from the 1980's are in such poor condition they are not useable in their current state. This is due to not only time but an apparent manufacturers defect. So we've begun the painstaking process of 'baking' each tape in order to get a shot at a one time only transfer to a digital format. Once that is done, we should have all the tracks that are being considered for the CD compiled. We will then determine how many tracks we are able to get onto a CD. Technology is changing so fast these days, one really has to always check to see if the it has changed in that department. Last time I checked it was in the neighbourhood of 19 - 20 tracks. We will have more than that to choose from so we will have to, once again, make a few hard decisions about what tracks make it on or not.

She's a Garden, Calling My Name, One Way Heart & Awaken Me will be on the new CD. As well, single versions of Just Like You & In The House... The video version of Lust for Love, The Swim, Evol Ti Lac. Then there's the remaining stuff from The Spell; What If, Daddy, I Saw The Man, Alone & Like A Fool will all get consideration. Very early stuff, even pre Dale stuff with Gary J on vocals, may be be included; Foreign Affairs, Flashing Black, Victimize, Worlds of Noise, Welcome To Sorrow among others. Although there versions of Worlds of Noise & Foreign Affairs with Dale singing. He was a very new singer at that time & was in the process of finding his style & range. Will always consider stuff with Dale singing first. Other stuff; a track called S & M .... Oh & Call It Love (from Rituals). We hope to include a live version or two, a few remixes & a new track (or two).

"Look Me in the Eye" music video shoot .... done!

The "Look Me in the Eye" music video shoot happened yesterday at The Bridge Studios in Vancouver, B.C. The line up that recorded the original tracks for the song were all present. Dale Martindale, Gary Smith, Joe Vizvary, Glen Nelson, Ed Shaw & Derrick Gyles performed the song in a massive sound stage within a stunning set. Thanks to our director, Gary Harvey & our Director of Photography, Adam Sliwinski, for getting absolutely amazing footage.

The band members of Images in Vogue would like to thank everyone who helped us make this video. It could not of happened without the time and the efforts of these people. This includes everyone who supported us by purchasing an item from the online auction, equipment suppliers, the F4/IIV camera dept., our incredible shooting crew, our production office team, Darlene Choo & a special thanks to Cheryl Inkster, who's belief in this project helped turn an idea into reality.
