I thought I would share some interesting links that further explains the process IIV went through to restore the recordings on tape they are compiling for the "Evolution" CD.
Below is a link to the story that appeared on Daily Planet that explains the baking process the Smithsonian Folkways Recordings labs uses to recover sounds from not so old tape recordings. This is a streaming video so it takes a couple of secs to load. Very interesting to those sound junkies out there like myself.
